Dedicated, big-picture minded, focused, honest, trustworthy, and inclusive.
My name is Anthony Vaughn and I am running for Vice Chairman. I am a direct descendant of Uriol Mireles, one of the last full blooded Juanenos. My mother's family came from the village of Tobe.
I am dedicated to advancing our tribe forward by implementing structures to ensure proper growth, while never forgetting our tribal values, in addition to re-establishing trust within our tribe and create opportunities for our current and future generations to forever maintain our tribal existence. I've spent the last two years as Vice Chair and helped secure the right to supplement our petition for Federal Recognition and would like to see it through to the end. Besides my personal time and money researching and speaking directly with BIA, I've worked with the Elders in developing a plan that raised $25,000 that helped move our tribe forward. Much more is needed to accomplish our intentions and feel I would bring forth the ability create more opportunities like this that will inevitably position us correctly and ultimately allow us to reach our common goal.
The position I'm requesting your support in requires an individual who believes a tribal government is the most effective while carrying out the wishes and expectations of its own members. As Vice Chairman, I will support the Chairperson/Executive Council but promise I will ALWAYS have the members best interest in mind when making decisions necessary to create the path that will move us forward as a tribal family-together.
