Accomplishments

It's difficult to put into words the amount of work this Tribal Council has accomplished over the last four years. With our Directors like Joe Lopez,Each line item below, in one way or another, represents hours of dedicated time, time away from family, time off from our regular work, delicate negotiations, bold Acjachemen strenghth, diplomatic courtesies, patience, master computer skills, eating humble pie left by others, old fashion elbow grease, personal and financial sacrifice, and many of prayers. The four individuals listed on The Winning Ticket understand what it takes to serve the General Council. Being on Tribal Council does not afford the luxury of living a far distance from our ancestral epicenter. Even with modern technology and conference calls, our traditional ways require face-to-face connection. Our ancestral ways obligate us to look into the eyes of whom we are working with, building relationships, and especially when it comes to dealing with our actual Ancestors, Honoring the remains or walking our lands and feeling their spirit guide us, can't get that over skype or videochat. Don't misunderstand, modern tools and conveniences should pften be used, but never replace of our traditional ways. Tribal Council is not and should never be run like a modern day corporation. WE ARE ACJACHEMEN AND THAT'S THE LIFE WE LEAD AND HOW WE GOVERN. Many tribes have been successful in corporate America using technology and western communication styles and abandoning our native ways entirely; but in doing so, they are no different than any other American corporation-they do not function on the red road and future generations will endure that legacy. We already have a taste of those effects and feel the damage first hand, i.e. breached contracts and ever-growing debt. Vote for the Winning Ticket and reconnect to our native ways.
